The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has pledged to resolved all outstanding issues with teachers in their second term of office.
Speaking at the 90th anniversary launch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at GNAT Hall on 30th March, 2021, the Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has reiterated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo govermment’s pledge to address all critical issues affecting teachers.
According to the Minister, teachers are at the centre of his priorities and his presence at the Ministry will help address challenges confronting teachers in line of duty.
The Minister who was a classroom teacher, believes that, all teachers should be well catered for; in access to education, their welfare, accommodation, salary and recognition.
This came after the Teacher Unions; the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT-GH) have given timeline to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s governmental through the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to collectively address teachers grievances.
According to the Teacher Unions, govermment failed to address key challenges affecting teachers including non-payment of the responsibility allowance by government and failure to upgrade teachers who have been promoted.
“We call on the Ministry of Education and the GES to, as matter of urgency, take steps to address these issues by the end of April 2021 to ensure industrial
