This is contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Abena-Osei Asare, to Heads of all other ministries, departments, agencies, MDAs and Metropolitans as well as Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Government for the suspension of post retirement contract appointment approvals.

The Finance Ministry made this directive based on the 2022 Budget and Economic Policy which has been submitted and approved by parliament for use and as such certain changes cannot be made including these post retirement grants.

The release stated emphatically that “ Government has, with immediate effect, suspended the granting of approval for post-retirement appointment contracts, except in the cases where the skills of the retiring officer are in short supply and unavoidably needed.”

The Ministry for Finance urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to treat this information as urgent.
