The official spokesperson for the Government of Ghana, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that Government is putting plans in place to give the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives spokespersons.
According to him, the plan to get all MMDCEs Public Relation Officers is to enable them focus on their main job and to also enable them provide timely and accurate information to citizens within their jurisdictions.
The Information Minister made this revelation during a meeting with journalists in the Eastern Region as part of his ongoing nationwide-wide media tour as reported by starfm.
The Ofoase Ayirebi lawmaker who also doubles as an Information Minister during the press meeting said;
“We are working to ensure that they (MMDCEs) can have PROs and Press Secretaries who can engage you more. Even the president himself is leading the work and I am the one who is traveling from Takoradi to Ho, Cape Coast, Oti Region to Koforidua so I can engage you, the same way the mayor, the MMDCE is doing a number of things, occasionally he may be able to speak to you but we must help him by getting him a press secretary or spokesperson who can on regular basis be responding to you.”
