Ho Technical University Admits 3,701 Fresh Students for the 2023/2024 Academic Year

Ho Technical University (HTU) has offered admission to a total of 3,701 fresh students for the 2023/2024 academic year. Out of this number, 2,340 are males, and 1,361 are females.

These students are pursuing various programs at the postgraduate, undergraduate (degree and HND), and non-tertiary levels across all six schools/faculties of the university. This information was shared by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga during the 31st Matriculation Ceremony held on February 23, 2024, at the G.M. Afeti Auditorium which was conducted in two (2) sessions.

The ceremony was attended by members of the University’s management, including the Pro-VC, Prof. Christopher Mensah, as well as Deans, Directors, Heads of Department, and members of the convocation.

The Vice Chancellor during his address at the ceremony highlighted that the new students include the first group of MSc. Hospitality and Tourism Management Students and MTech Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning students. He also mentioned that there are students enrolled in new programs such as BTech. Biomedical Engineering, BSc. Accounting (Finance & Taxation options), BSc. Financial Services (Banking and Finance & Finance and Insurance options), and BSc. Economics and Innovation.

Additionally, he disclosed that there are naval students who have enrolled for the Advanced Certificate in Secretaryship and Management Studies under the HTU-Naval Training Command’s Supply Application School partnership.

The Registrar, Dr. Christopher K. Amehoe, administered the matriculation oath to the new students, which requires them to abide by the university’s rules and regulations, maintain good relationships with their peers and staff, and refrain from engaging in social vices, including the use of illicit drugs and beverages.

In his speech, he congratulated and welcomed the students, assuring them of a supportive academic environment. He reiterated the university’s commitment to helping them achieve their dreams and aspirations through strong structures and support systems. He emphasized the importance of good conduct, discipline, and diligence in preparing for future success and encouraged the students to embrace innovation and critical thinking when tackling societal challenges.

Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, the Vice Chancellor also emphasized the university’s strict stance against indiscipline, examination malpractices, and sexual harassment. He urged the students to familiarize themselves with the institution’s core values and regulations and emphasized the significance of personal responsibility and seeking help when facing challenges. He also highlighted the importance of academic integrity, punctuality, and professional conduct.

Continuing, he highlighted the numerous opportunities available at Ho Technical University and emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for academic excellence and global exposure. He urged the students to seize these opportunities through dedication and hard work, considering their time at the university as a journey of self-discovery and contribution to society.

During the ceremony, two (2) students, Collins Deladem Ameho (BTech Computer Science) and Sheila Attah (BTech Civil Engineering), delivered speeches on behalf of their fellow students. They expressed optimism for a fulfilling academic experience at HTU with the support of the staff and faculty.
