Member of Parliament for Central Tongu Constituency Honourable Alexander Gabby Hottordze has supported eye screening for one thousand, eight hundred and fifteen (1,815) constituents in Central Tongu from 22nd July, 2022 to 25th July, 2022.
According to the MP, out of 1,815 persons who were screened, a total number of 1,653 medications were dispensed.
Mr. Gabby Hottordze added that, a total number of 599 eye glasses were also given out to individuals while 316 cases have been booked for surgery.
The critical eye surgery for the 316 cases booked will commence from Monday, 22nd August, 2022 at the Adidome District Hospital.
Alexander Gabby Hottordze partners Lifetime Wells Vision, a Ghanaian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Accra and Friends Eye Centre, Tamale, to undertake the Free Medical Outreach which involves screening of eye related conditions, medications and surgeries.
The Central Tongu Lawmaker has released Funds to support the Free Eye Screening, Treatment, issue of Medicated Glasses and Cataract Surgery for his Constituents.
Hon. Gabby explained that, aside the cost of medical screening and medications, feeding and accommodation for the team over the period will be borne by him.
The young and determined MP said, the major purpose of the exercise is to minimize blindness among his people through free treatment, issue of glasses and surgeries.
The screening exercise was carried out in the five (5) major zones in the Central Tongu Constituency of the Volta Region. These are Adidome, Asiekpe, Sasekpe, Mafi-Dove, and Bakpa-Avedo zones.
