Hon. Alexander Gabby Hottordze, Member of Parliament for the Central Tongu Constituency
MP for Central Tongu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Gabby Hottordze, has raised concerns over the poor quality of road construction work being carried out on the Yorkutikpo–Mafi-Avedo–Kpoviadzi–Whute stretch of road in his constituency.
During a recent Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sitting, the MP, who is also a friend of the committee, lodged a complaint with the Road Minister who was present at the meeting.
Expressing his concern over the situation, Hon. HOTTORDZE called on the Road Minister to dispatch an inspectorate team to the site to verify the allegations and ensure that the right measures are taken to guarantee value for money.
He emphasized that the poor quality of work could jeopardize the safety and welfare of commuters who use the road, as well as negatively impact economic activities in the area.
The PAC commended Hon. HOTTORDZE for his proactive stance on the issue and assured him that they would follow up with the Road Minister to ensure that the matter is adequately addressed.
They also urged other MPs to emulate his example and speak up when they notice any irregularities in the execution of public projects in their respective constituencies.
The Road Minister, in response to the concerns raised by Hon. Hottordze, assured the committee that his Ministry would investigate the matter and take appropriate action to ensure that the contractor delivers high-quality work that meets the required standards.
He also commended the MP for his vigilance and promised to work closely with him and other stakeholders to ensure that the road construction project is successfully completed to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
