The current New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Secretary for Central Tongu Constituency, Volta Region, Dr. Selasie Faith Dunyo has declared his intention to contest in the NPP Parliamentary election.

The party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday, 11th July 2023 opened nominations for all interested persons. The announced deadline for the open nomination is Thursday, 10th August 2023.

After the opening of the nomination, a Businessman who is concurrently the current New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Secretary for Central Tongu Constituency, Dr. Selasie Faith Dunyo has declared his intention to contest on his party’s ticket as a parliamentary candidate for his constituency, Central Tongu.

In his declaration statement, he referred to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote which reads:

“We did not hesitate to call our movement an army. But it was a special army, with no supplies but its sincerity, no uniform but its determination, no arsenal except its faith, no currency but its conscience.”

The aspirant, Dr. Selasie Faith Dunyo’s central theme for his campaign is “The grassroots must connect.”

The declaration statement of Dr. Selasie Faith Dunyo encompasses myriad calls and great intentions he has for both his party, constituency, and mother Ghana.

It was captured in his statement of declaration that “In relation to my personal conviction and the clarion call from the good people of the Central Tongu Constituency, I solemnly wish to declare my intention to contest and get voted for as the Parliamentary candidate to lead our party towards driving the agenda of breaking the 8.

“As stated earlier, I have had a deep reflection on myself coupled with calls from the well-meaning people of Central Tongu Constituency i.e both NPP and NDC members and I see it prudent to present myself as the David to help deal with Goliath, our political opponents there by writing a novel political history of winning the parliamentary seat for the NPP in my constituency.

Adding, he detailed the impossibility of his desire but he strengthen his intention with mighty words of motivation.

“Yes! This I’m aware would seem impossible but with Unity, hard work, dedication, determination, and resilience, our constituency will produce an NPP member of Parliament.”

Emphasizing his strength to win the Central Tongu Constituency seat, Dr. Selasie Dunyo indicated that “In both my private capacity and in my capacity as the constituency secretary, I have done my best to consolidate the base of our party by supporting members in various ways which is so obvious and needs not to be overemphasized.”

Further, he “solemnly calls on all and sundry to subscribe to the agenda” “the grassroots must connect” for the best outcome.

He appealed and advised in the declaration saying every one of us should “engage in an issue-based campaign and refrain from any form of activity that tends to tear apart our fabric of unity.”

The aspirant, Dr. Selasie Faith Dunyo referred to the by-election that went on Assin-North Constituency weeks ago.

“Per the agitations from the grassroots which is evident in what transpired just recently at Assin-North Constituency, it is clear that there is a disconnection that needs an urgent connection and that’s what I’m committed to do.”

Further, he said, “Pursuant to rule 22 of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of Parliamentary Primaries in orphan constituencies, I wish to recuse myself from all activities in relation to the party’s upcoming parliamentary candidate selection and election process.”
