South Tongu Member of Parliament Honourable Kobena Mensah Woyome has donated a total of one thousand, two hundred and thirty-two (1,232) pieces of furniture to the South Tongu Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
According to the Member of Parliament, the 1,232 pieces of furniture are made up of 1,052 chairs and 180 hexagonal tables for pre-schools (kindergarten schools) in the South Tongu District.
The Lawmaker explained that, the furniture donations were made in tranches to the South Tongu Education Directorate, as part of his educational interventions in the District to all kindergarten schools.
Breakdown of the furniture donationsÂ
Earlier, a total of four hundred and sixty-six (466) chairs and thirty-nine (39) tables were first supplied to the education directorate and distributed to schools.
He again supplied additional three hundred and forty-six (346) chairs and one hundred and one (101) hexagonal tables to the education office which were also distributed to pre-schools in the district.
The first and second supplies were received by Evelyn Araba Zentey (Ms), former District Director of Education and were distributed to twenty-five (25) schools in the District.
Some of the schools that benefited from the first and second supplies are Agorgbe D/A Basic, Awuyakope D/A Basic, Sokpoe Presbyterian KG/primary, Galo-Sota EP primary, Xikpo D/A primary/KG, Detsawome D/A Basic, Sukludzi D/A Basic, Adutor D/A, EP Basic “B”, Kpodzadzi D/A KG primary, Gamenu D/A Basic, Dzebetato D/A Basic, Dzodome D/A KG/primary, Kua RC primary and D/A JHS, Avorvi D/A KG/primary, Tosukpo D/A Basic, Yorkutikpo D/A Basic, Awusakpe Salvation Army Primary among others.
On Tuesday, 12th July, 2022, Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome again hands over another two hundred and forty (240) chairs and forty (40) hexagonal tables to the South Tongu GES under the Directorship of Mrs. Celestine S.A Korsi Agordo which are yet to be distributed to schools in the district.
This brought the total donations to one thousand, two hundred and thirty-two (1,232) pieces of furniture.
Mr. Woyome indicated that, similar donations were made in the past to the South Tongu Education Directorate as a way of supporting quality delivery of education in his constituency.
Speaking to Coverghana.com.gh news team, the MP calls on management of the Directorate to ensure that, the furniture are distributed to all schools in the district.
He again appealed to the Directorate to ensure proper maintenance culture and uniform distribution of the furniture.
The recent donation was received by the district accountant for South Tongu Education Directorate Mr. ReinFred Vasco and Mr. Elorm Golo, the district planning officer cum South Tongu GNAT chairman on behalf of the District Director Mrs. Celestine S.A Korsi Agordo.
ReinFred Vasco said, the donation of furniture to pre-schools in the district is timely. He expressed the Directorate’s appreciation to the Member of Parliament for his kind gestures.
ReinFred Vasco also appealed to the MP to continue his positive work by supporting the South Tongu Education Directorate and education in the District.
He again appealed to the MP to help construct a modern pre-school in South Tongu.
