The office of the Special Prosecutor has become the latest office set-up by the Government of Ghana to help in the fight against bribery and Corruption.

The Government of Ghana after an act of the Parliament of Ghana passed the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill in 2017.

Following the passage of the Special Prosecutor’s office bill, President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu as the first special prosecutor.

However, a few years after his appointment, Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu resigned from the office of the Special Prosecutor with reasons that he cannot work with corrupt Government officials who want to be controlling him.

President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo after Mr. Martin Alamisi Amidu’s resignation appointed another renowned legal practitioner lawyer Kissi Agyebeng as new Special Prosecutor of the country.
