The Consumer Protection Agency of Ghana have been notified on some level of cheat in the purchase of fuel. The agency beseeched Ghanaians to purchase fuel in liters after their investigation.

The Consumer Protection Agency during their investigation came to notice that 57 OMC’S at Accra fuel pumps have been alerted.

A statement by Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour, the Head of programs and Research indicated that, most of the OMCs located in Accra have altered their fuel pump.

The OMCs altered the Cedi running metre leaving the liter running metre. The reason is, the liter running metre was used to determine the amount of fuel sold by each attendant.

The agency advised that fuel should be purchased in liters because the liter running meter cannot be easily adjusted.

The agency described how to get fuel from the station without been cheated. ”At the station, tell the attendant you want to buy let’s say 10 litres, look at the PRICE for the day and multiply the price by the litre you want and pay the amount. Anything above this is cheating”.
