I am not a fan of most of Sarkodie’s music because it is very derogatory to women — Kukua Aprey

I love that two(2) Creators(Sarkodie and Yvonne Nelson) have an outlet to express themselves through different Art forms- Writing and Music.

Unfortunately, in typical Sarkodie fashion, he resorted to insults rather than simply telling his side of the story.

According to her she is not  fan of most of Sarkodie’s music because it is very derogatory to women. It is a bit surprising to know that even with his music career and brand going global, his Art is still replete with Sexism, and crude insults about women.

To me, an apology that you were young, and didn’t know how it affected the woman, would have made Sarkodie out to be the gentleman. But who cares about decorum? Sarkodie says he is from the streets so ….

“The old and crass way of calling women slu.ts only when a man wants to walk away from her, when she becomes pregnant is old and boring. It’s too played out. Sarkodie should have done some Social Listening. Many people actually felt sorry for him because he is now married and has a beautiful family. Many people even become more concerned when he lost #CQ , only days after the release of Yvonne Nelson’s book. It felt like a double blow to Sarkodie. And he should have come from that angle”. She write in a Facebook post

She also added that the habit of insulting women as cheap, and pass-arounds is played out. To me, it only shows that you the man either like easy women, or you do not do your due diligence before diving in(pun intended).

Those sexist lyrics worked when you were an up-coming Artiste, but with the Global brand that you have become, this song wasn’t tasteful.

You are an Artiste. You have the platform-by all means, use it. But respond, don’t insult. There were no insults in Yvonne Nelson’s book, and Sarkodie should have also kept his song that way. State the facts, devoid of insults

“If I were to be the one advising Sarkodie, I would even have told him to wait several months before he released this song. I would have capitalised on it, to sell the Rapperholic  show later in the year. It is such a missed opportunity…” she added

From the song, it appears that Yvonne Nelson felt bad about bringing Sarkodie up in her book, I believe that it is why she wanted to speak to him privately a few weeks ago, to give him a heads up, about her book. I think that is kind, and thoughtful. To know that even in her hurt and pain, she was still kind and considerate of him, and how he would feel, is mature.

Sarkodie on the other hand seems angry. Unfortunately, emotions don’t change facts. He should merely have stated the facts devoid of the his typical Sexist lyrics.
