Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, has refuted claims that she intends to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
Adwoa Safo, who was defeated by Mike Ocquaye Jnr, the Ghana Free Zones boss, in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries last week, released a statement on Tuesday, 30th January 2024 clarifying her position. She affirmed her unwavering commitment to supporting the NPP in winning the 2024 elections despite her loss.

“I want to make it clear that despite the setback and the outcome of last Saturday’s parliamentary primaries in Dome-Kwabenya, I remain dedicated to the shared values of the New Patriotic Party and our collective objective of securing victory with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections,” Adwoa Safo stated.
As a three-term Member of Parliament and a loyal party member, she acknowledged the fundamental principles that underpin the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, where internal competition is followed by cooperation.
“To dispel any doubts and eliminate any ambiguity, I reiterate that I have absolutely no intention of running as an independent candidate in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, 2024, or at any point in the foreseeable future,” Adwoa Safo affirmed.
