The Anlo Traditional Council has reacted to an act of a purported ‘Impersonation’ shown by the former Ambassador to the United Nations, James Victor Gbeho in a meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the family of the late Jerry John Rawlings to thank the state for giving Rawlings a befitting state burial.

Reports suggest that, in the meeting, Amb. James Victor Gbeho has, on behalf of the family rendered an apology during a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo. This was carried by a section of the Media as “The Anlo Traditional Council apologises to Akufo-Addo over confusion during Rawlings’ funeral”

In a statement released by Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, the Awadada of Anlo State on behalf of Anlo Traditional Council said, Amb. James Victor Gbeho is neither a member of the Anlo Traditional Council nor is he a spokesperson for the Traditional Council.

The Anlo Traditional Council has further advised Joy News which widely carried the news to be very circumspect in its reportage and be consistent with its banner headlines or verify individuals affiliations with organisations to avoid future embarrassment to itself, individuals, or organisations.

The Anlo Traditional Council’s attention has been drawn to a headline trending on myjoyonline.com and social media purporting to report that “The Anlo Traditional Council apologises to Akufo-Addo over confusion during Rawlings’ funeral”

The story carried the picture of H. E. President Addo Danqua Akufo Addo and Amb. James Victor Gbeho and reportedly mentioned the latter as representing the family and carried the news item as apology on behalf of the late President Rawlings family.

However, the headline mentioned him as representing the Anlo Traditional Council. We would like to inform the general public that Amb. James Victor Gbeho is neither a member of the Anlo Traditional Council nor is he a spokesperson for the Traditional Council.

We advise Joy News to be very circumspect in its reporting and be consistent with its banner headlines or verify individuals affiliations with organisations to avoid future embarrassment to itself, individuals, or organisations. We hope the news organization will make the necessary correction and disseminate it as widely as it had carried the news item of February 19th 2020.
