Media reportages on Saturday, 13th June, 2020 suggest that, the Health Minister who is leading the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic is Ghana has tested positive and was recovering at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
The breaking news generated series of reasons on social media among Ghanaian citizens where a section of them mocked him and the government to have failed in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic while other consoled and wished him speedy recovery.
But, some hours after the news broke up, the Health Minister of Ghana Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has denied Media publications that he has tested positive of Coronavirus.
According to the Health Minister, he was only resting at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). He added that, he only needed to have enough rest as he takes his diabetes medication at the hospital.
In a Facebook post by a Despite Media, Broadcast Journalist, Afia Pokuaa who spoke to the Heath Minister said, he was only resting at the hospital and has not tested positive of Coronavirus.
Afia Pokuaa announced the conversation she had with the Minister on her Facebook page on Saturday evening after the news broke up. “Spoke to the minister of health. He says he’s fine and doesn’t have COVID but only needed rest and his usual medication,” she shared.
Meanwhile, the post made by Afia Pokuaa did not provide details on the health status of the Health Minister at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as many reports suggested. She categorically stated that, the Minister reject claims that, he tested positive of Coronavirus.
