Jean Mensa can’t be compelled into the witness box for cross-examination – Supreme Court

The seven (7) member panel of the Supreme Court has overruled/dismissed an application filed by the Lawyers of John Dramani Mahama (Petitioner) to compel the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Mensa to mount the witness box to be cross-examined.

The Court ruled that the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa cannot be compelled to mount the witness box to be cross-examined.

The Counsel for the Petitioner, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata then indicates he would want to reopen the Petitioner’s case to subpoena the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson.

Lead Counsel for the Petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata is seeking to file two applications; one for the review of today’s ruling that the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson, Jean Mensa cannot be compelled to testify and be cross-examined and another to reopen their case and subpoena the EC Chair to testify.
