Former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has assured Teacher Trainees all over the country about scrapping the Licensure exams.

In addressing a group of people who visited him (John Mahama) for discussion about bettering the nation, a Teacher there ask saying “Mr. President, I’m a Teacher. I want to know if you will cancel the licensing exams for Teachers.”

Hurriedly, John Mahama answered that “Yes. I will cancel it simple, straightforward.”

Further, he backed his response with an explanation saying “I believe that if we improve the examination (the final exams that they take) and we improve the quality of teaching and learning in the Colleges of Education, you don’t need for them to pass their exams, come out and go back and write licensing exams.”

“So when we come to office, we will take out the licensing exams,” John Mahama promised.

In addition, he assured Teachers that when his government come back to power, they will improve the quality of teaching in Colleges.
