The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has emerged as the world’s best university for the provision of quality education, according to the 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Ranking published on Thursday, 1st June 2023.

The ranking assesses universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with KNUST leading in the SDG 4 category – Quality Education.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that evaluate universities across four broad areas, including research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

The 2023 Impact Rankings marks the fifth edition, with 1,591 universities from 112 countries/regions included in the overall ranking.

KNUST’s exceptional performance in the SDG 4 category, which measures universities’ contribution to early years, lifelong learning, research, and commitment to inclusive education, earned the institution a score of 93.1, placing it ahead of the pack and making it the number one destination for quality education globally. KNUST surpassed 1,303 out of the 1,304 universities that fell within this category worldwide.

The achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of KNUST’s staff and students, as well as the support of the institution’s partners and stakeholders.
