The management of Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has taken decisive action against several employees who were found to have violated the code of conduct within the healthcare profession, which included instances of extorting money from patients.

Out of the implicated staff, one individual has been terminated from their position, while the remaining sixteen have been suspended without pay.

The Chief Executive of the Hospital, Professor Otchere Addai Mensah, revealed these actions during the hospital’s mid-year performance review in Kumasi.

He stated, “Between January and June of 2023, a total of 16 staff members have faced disciplinary sanctions, including dismissal, warnings, and suspensions without pay, due to various breaches of the hospital’s disciplinary code.”

These measures are part of the hospital’s commitment to upholding the highest professional standards, ensuring that individuals who seek the services of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital leave with a sense of satisfaction.

To further motivate and incentivize the hospital staff, management has implemented several enhancements to their compensation packages.

In addition to increasing allowances for line managers, the hospital has boosted the medical benefits for staff and their families by 25 percent.
