Korlebu fire: Hospital says it was only an air-conditioner emitting smoke

The Public Relations Officer of the Korlebu teaching Hospital says there wasn’t any fire outbreak at the hospital.
According to the Mustapha Salifu  who is the PRO for the Hospital, reports about the fire outbreak at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital have been exaggerated.
He explained that at about around 9pm on 6th April, 2021, staff of the hospital detected that an air-conditioner switch in one of the restrooms of the hospital started emiting smoke and they used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service(GNFS).
Mr. Mustapha Salifu further added that, as a precautionary measure, some of the babies were moved to another wing of the same floor.
A portion of the statement from Mustapha Salifu said ;

“What happened was an air-conditioner switch in one of the restroom of the doctors started emitting smoke which was detected by staff on duty at around 9pm yesterday.

The staff on duty quickly used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service(GNFS).

As a precautionary measure, some of the babies were moved to another wing of the same floor.”
