South Tongu GES organizes joint orientation for Newly Recruited Teachers

The South Tongu Education Directorate has organized an orientation for Newly Recruited Teachers posted to the District.

On Wednesday, 7th April, 2021, the Education Directorate under the Directorship of Ms. Evelyn Araba Zentey has organized a joint orientation for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 year batches of Newly Recruited Teachers in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The orientation which was held at Global Evangelical Church Chapel, Sogakope forms part of the requirements of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for all Newly Recruited Teachers.

Speaking at the Programme, the District Director of Education for South Tongu Ms. Evelyn Araba Zentey said, the orientation is organized to intensify the professional development of Newly Recruited Teachers to effectively prepare for academic activities in schools.

She again said, the Management of South Tongu Education Directorate has called for the orientation to educate teachers on the new Ghana Education Service (GES) code of conducts and the structures under the Service to make the teachers well fit into the Service, thereby improving on their quality of delivery and students performance.

Madam Evelyn Araba Zentey, in her welcome address encouraged the teachers to work hard because, she believes that, with dedication and commitment to their duty, the quality of teaching and students learning outcome will improve in the District.

During the orientation, the various unit heads under the South Tongu District Education Directorate has taken the teachers through an intensed training and education on how each of the unit function under the Ghana Education Service in the current dispensation.

Addressing the teachers, the South Tongu District Training Officer Mr. Simon Peter Ofosu noted that, the orientation for the 2019/2020 Newly Recruited Teachers should have been organized in 2020 but, due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Directorate could not done that. This according to him, makes them to add the 2018 year batch of Trained Teachers to the 2019 year batch for a joint orientation.

The orientation which lasted for about six (6) hours saw in attendance over 130 participants. Each participant is also expected to be given a certificate of participation which shall be inspected during promotion from lower ranks to Principal Superintendent.

The Management of the South
Tongu Education Directorate has officially welcomed all 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Newly Recruited Teachers into the Ghana Education Service and urged them to effectively performance their duties in the key interest of the Service in improving upon the existing track record of the Directorate.
