More than 460 private school teachers across the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region have been supported with some assorted food items in order to cushion them from the effects the Covid-19 pandemic has had on them as teachers since March, this year. The gesture was made possible by the independent Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Kpando Constituency, Mr. Samuel Kodzosika.
One of the sectors hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic is the educational sector where schools have remained closed for close to four months. Private school teachers who are paid from fees collected by their proprietors have had to do without salaries or allowances from their employers from March to date.
It is against this backdrop that the Kpando Constituency Independent Parliamentary Aspirant in the December elections, Mr. Samuel Kodzosika decided to support all private school teachers in the municipality with the food items all valued at more than Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc30,000.00).
He used the donation event to visit all the beneficiary private schools in the municipality not only to personally present the items to both the teaching and non-teaching staff members of the schools but also interact with the affected teachers.
Each of the teachers received a Seventy Ghana Cedi (Ghc70.00) package of items comprising a five (5) kilogram bag of rice, a bottle of cooking oil, two (2) tins of sardines and five (5) sachets of tomato paste.
Some of the beneficiary schools included the Bishop Forson, Excellence Music, God’s Grace, Global Evangelical, Macdellar Son of Grace, Back To God, Volta Meridian Academy as well as St. Robert’s Preparatory Schools at Kpando Torkor. The others included Ideal Shepherd and Angel Preparatory Schools at Kpando Tsakpe, Lartson and Angels Preparatory School at Kpando Lowcost and the Missahoe Montessori School at Kpando Gabi. The rest included St. Benedict International School at Kpando Abanu Quarters, Full Life Academy at Kpando Fesi and the Fountain of Hope Academy at Kpando Abanu.
Mr. Kodzosika used the event to laud the efforts of private schools and their staff across the country for their contribution to the development and promotion of quality education in the country. According to him, the decision to contest the Kpando Constituency seat in the December elections is to serve the interest of his people, a virtue which has been lacking for all these years.
Receiving the donation, the teachers described the gesture by the Independent PC as timely and wonderful, adding that it would go a long way to cushion them for sometime.
Proprietress of the Fountain of Hope Academy, Ms. Abigail Nelson was full of praise for Mr. Kodzosika. She urged the campaign team of the PC to take advantage of all the social media platforms to market the PC and his good works.
Proprietress of the Missahoe Montessori School, Ms. Mawusi Dotse and the Proprietor of the Volta Meridian Academy, Bishop Agbesinyale Ansah described the gesture as a dream come true. According to them, the mere thought of the donation and its subsequent execution was not only exemplary but also fulfilling.
The PC’s team was made up of Alhaji Rufai Bukari, Mark Akabua, Daniel Gbevlo, Esinam Glah, Enoch Kwame, Eric Kumedzro as well as Gowdin Addo amongst others.
