Mr. Aziz Mohammed, the manager for the Technology Solution Centre (TSC) at Donkorkrom has indicated that, the unavailability of accomodation facility is scaring students away.
Mr. Aziz, who is managing the TSC Centre made this know after he indicated that, some number of students have been posted to the facility through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
The TSC was built under the Rural Enterprise Programme (REP) to aid in providing technical and vocational education for the youth. It has however, been converted into a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre.
According to the manager, out of the over 20 students posted to the facility, one 1 has reported and been offered admission so far, waiting for a confirmed date to report for academic work.
He also disclosed that, the facility has to convert the only space serving as showroom and storeroom into classroom since there was none available.
Hon. Isaac Ofori Koree (DCE for Afram Plains North) is reported to have taken steps in securing a facility belonging to the Lands Commission to be used as classroom and hostel facility for the students as the District works on getting enough facility for the centre.
The building for the Lands Commission, after it’s completion somewhere in 2012, has been left to rot, hence when converted into a classroom or hostel facility, would be of good use.
