Lost Ghana Card: How to call the owner of a lost Ghana Card

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has on May 1, 2023, introduced a new system in collaboration with telecommunication companies which allows the public to call the owner of a lost Ghana Card /or check the number of SIM cards linked to their Ghana Cards.

In a situation where you come across a missing Ghana Card and find it difficult to reach out to the owner.

Here are the steps you can follow to obtain the number of the owner and place a call for her/him to receive it.

Kindly note that for security, you are urged to meet the owner in a public place to prevent any inconvenience.

Below are the steps:

  1. Kindly dial the shortcode *402*1# on your smartphone/device
  2. Enter option “1” to check SIMs.
  3. Enter the missing but found Ghana Card number (GHA-XXXXXXXX-X).
  4. Enter the Date of Birth in this format (DDMMYYYY). Enter the DoB just as it appears on the missing but found Ghana Card.
  5. Wait for a while. A message will be sent to you bearing the number(s) linked using the missing but found Ghana Card.
  6. Kindly call the number(s) listed there and arrange a meeting with the owner of the Ghana Card to receive it.

CAUTION: Prioritize meeting in public places for security reasons.

However, you can use the same method to check SIMs linked to your Ghana Card.
