Management of TV3 and Media General react to public attack on 2020 election coverage projection

The management of TV3 and Media General has reacted to the public attack by Ghanaians following their December 2020 general elections coverage.

According to the management of the station, they made projections based on information available to them. They further said, their elections coverage was not intended to favor any political Party or Candidate against the other.

In a press statement issued by the management of the station, TV3 and Media General have assured the general public especially their audience and other stakeholders, including political parties, of their continued commitment to provide balanced and impartial reportage.

“We have observed comments on social media and other media on TV3 and Media General’s coverage of the results on the 2020 elections, particularly on projections of seats won by political parties in the parliamentary elections” The statement explained.

“We wish to state that all the projections we made on the number of parliamentary seats by the parties were based on the information we had received at a particular time.” They said.

“The projections which were made were not in any way intended to be the definitive results of the elections. It must be noted that the projections were changed from time to time as we received new
information, which were analyzed.”
