Military Officer passed on during Independence Day Parade
A solemn incident that took place at the just ended Ghana’s 67th Independence anniversary celebrations in Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana, a military officer from the Ghana Air Force tragically lost his life. The officer collapsed amidst the parade, alongside 66 others, and despite receiving immediate medical attention from stationed doctors at the venue, he could not be revived.
Following the collapse, eight individuals were swiftly transported to the Eastern Regional Hospital for further medical treatment. Both the Eastern Regional Hospital and the Regional Ambulance Service have confirmed that the officer’s health rapidly declined, leading to his untimely demise.

The Local Organizing Committee expressed profound sorrow over this unfortunate event and is actively engaged in informing the military high command about the tragic loss.
Also, a total of 72 people, comprising students, service personnel, and soldiers, collapsed during the 67th Independence Parade at the Tamale Jubilee Park on the same day.
It is believed that the severe dehydration caused by the harsh weather conditions, coupled with the extended duration of standing under the scorching sun, contributed to their collapse.
Yakubu Amin Abukari, the northern regional head of the Ghana Red Cross Society and a member of the paramedic staff assigned to provide first aid at the regional Independence Day parade, reported that all 72 individuals were successfully revived and resuscitated.
