The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced changes to the midterm dates for the second term, as communicated in a circular dated April 24, 2023 by the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Belio Kipsang.
Initially, the second term’s midterm dates were scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 2, according to the circular.
However, upon a request from Kahi Indimuli, the Chairperson of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA), the PS has revised the dates to June 27, 2023, through July 1, 2023.
The adjustment was made to allow school administrators to attend the 46th KESSHA conference. In a letter referenced as Ref. KESSHA/NATCONFF/3/VOL.1/23 and dated March 26, 2023, the KESSHA Chairman highlighted the significance of the conference as a platform for school administrators to reflect on and share experiences in school management.
Acknowledging the importance of the National KESSHA Conference, the Ministry considered the request and modified the midterm dates accordingly.
It is important for all school administrators to take note of and adhere to these revised dates.
The new term dates for the second term of 2023 are as follows, and both primary and secondary schools across Kenya will follow these dates.
Given that the previous term was relatively short, spanning only 13 weeks, this term is set to be the longest.
It will require concerted efforts from both teachers and students to ensure its success while effectively managing resources.
