Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is still in the Presidential Race – NDP Clears the air on rumours

The National Democratic Party says their Presidential candidate Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has not withdrawn the upcoming December Presidential election.

There were several reports that the Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Party has withdrawn from the presidential race due to the death of her husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Speaking to the rumours about the withdrawal of the NDP Presidential candidate, the general Secretary of the party Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong indicated that their Presidential candidate Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has not withdrawn from the race to the Presidency.

Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong said ‘There are stories flying around that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has pulled out of the race, these are false, she is still in the race and believes the time has come to take charge of Ghana and restore the glory’.

The NDP’s General Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong also added that

“with the passing of President Rawlings, our supporters and sympathizers have been asking the Executives of our Party whether our Presidential Candidate has the strength to continue as flagbearer considering her natural state of distress. We the Executive, have not broached this discussion with her as we know and understand that she needs time and space to grieve and it would be insensitive to have opened up this topic. We intend to meet with her before the end of this week to have this conversation with her and we will inform our members, supporters and the general public of the outcome in due course.

However, it is our wish that she would gather the strength to lead our Party. We
would like to inform the general public that our campaign is still ongoing and our
Parliamentary Candidates are out there canvassing for votes and our Regional and
Constituency Executives, as well as supporters and sympathisers, are still
campaigning and should remain resolute.”
