National Identification Authority announces premium registration

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced to the general public that they will embark on a premium registration service for citizens.

The release dated 11th June 2023 was signed by Col. Peter Kwame Ghansah (Rtd)
Ag. Head, Corporate Affairs.

According to the release, the premium registration will take place at NIA’s Regional Offices in the following Regions:

1. Volta.
2. Bono.
3. Bono East.
4. Northern.
5. Western North.

Further, it was captured that the above-listed centres will operate in addition to the Premium Centres at the NIA and CalBank Head Offices in Accra,
Ashanti, Eastern, and Western Regional offices.

DATE FOR NIA PREMIUM REGISTRATION

The stated date for the announced exercise is Monday, 12th June 2023.

COST OF NIA PREMIUM REGISTRATION

The premium registration centres will offer the following fee-based registration services:

1. First-time registration and issuance of a Ghana Card – GH¢ 280.00
2. Replacement of lost, missing, or damaged cards – GH¢ 110.00
3. Update of personal records that requires the printing of a new card – GH¢ 110.00

NIA PREMIUM REGISTRATION: SERVICES THAT WILL ATTRACT A FEE

Below is a list of updated services that attract a fee:

1. Change or correction of applicant’s name.
2. Change or correction of the order of an applicant’s name.
3. Correction or addition of the applicant’s previous name or maiden name.
4. Correction of applicant’s date of birth.
5. Change or correction of applicant’s nationality.
6. Correction of applicant’s gender.
7. Change or correction of applicant’s height.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Applicants requesting premium services should also note the following:

1. The premium services will be based on an online booking system and a walk-in system.

2. Payment of fees for all premium services must be made with either of the following:

• CalBank Mobile Banking Platform with short code *771#; or
• CalBank Online Mobile App.
• Alternatively, payment for the above services may be made at any CalBank Branch.

3. NIA will not accept cash payments for any of its services at the newly established Premium Centres.

Applicants must note that not every request for an update of personal record or card replacement can be handled on the same day.

Review and approval of requests for the update of a personal record or card replacement may take longer than a day.
