National Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given clarity on ‘Other Youth Representative’ position in the forthcoming Constituency Elections across the country.
In a statement, the General Secretary of the Party Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said, the issue of the “Other Youth Representative” seems to be generating a lot of controversy among Party faithfuls..
He explained that, for the avoidance of doubt and pursuant to article 19 (4E), the following clarifications shall apply in the election of the “Other Youth Representative” position:
1. The position shall be voted for and elected independently and not selected as a runner-up in the Constituency Youth Organizer elections.
2. The elected “Other Youth Representative” shall have the mandate of voting in the Regional and National Youth Conference only.
3. Aspirants for this position are not required to resign from their branch positions upon filing of their nomination.
The National Secretariat of NDC has therefore directed all Regional Chairmen to ensure that, the information is communicated to all members of the party especially aspirants.
