Eric Edem Agbana and John Adanu Zewu have a tie in the Ketu North Parliamentary election of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In view of this, the Electoral Commission has announced a runoff for the two aspirants.
This happened after the Electoral Commission had a successful two-recounts upon a request made by John Adanu and found three (3) unstamped ballot papers in the boxes, two (2) for Edem Agbana and one (1) for John Adanu.
When you take these ‘3 votes’ out of the initial results announced by the Electoral Commission, the two aspirants have a tie of 358 votes.
This had compelled the Returning Officer for Electoral Commission Ghana to declare a runoff for the aspirants.
Initially, the Electoral Commission had recorded a total votes of 360 for Edem Agbana and 359 votes for John Adanu. Edem Agbana made an open victory statement on his social media platforms following the initial data from the Electoral Commission.
But, after the recounts, the Electoral Commission has nullified the first results and announced a runoff for the two aspirants.
