The death has been reported of the News Editor of TV Africa, Mr. Michael Nii Tettey Ablorh in Accra.
A source told our newsteam that the late Nii Tettey Ablorh died on Sunday, 7th May, 2023 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) at Legon-Accra after a short illness.
The source added that Friday, 5th May, 2023 was exactly one month when Mr. Michael Ablorh was admitted at the UGMC and had since been recuperating until the unimaginable struck on Sunday evening.
The sudden demise of the legendary Nii Tettey Ablorh has deeply saddened and broken the hearts of many, including not only the entire staff of TV Africa at the North Kaneshie headoffice in Accra and particularly the newsroom staff but also all the Regional Correspondents who worked closely with him from across the whole country.
Until his death and in addition to his role as News Editor of TV Africa, Nii Ablorh hosted the Ga Magazine programme, ‘Omanye Aba’ on TV Africa and was also the owner of Omanye TV.
In early April, 2023, prior to his admission at the UGMC, Nii Tettey Ablorh accompanied the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II and a number of his paramount chiefs to the United States (US) for an official visit, a testament of the confidence the Ga Traditional Authority or the Ga State for that matter, had in him to deliver exceptionally.
Some tributes have already started pouring in for the late News Editor. The tributes have described the late Nii Tettey Ablorh as a hardworking staff, a dependable senior and colleague as well as a brother and a good friend who was loving, sociable and down to earth in his endeavours.
Sources in the newsroom said Nii Ablorh”s death is the biggest blow the newsroom has ever received in recent years. Some colleagues also stated, ‘Nii Tettey Ablorh would be remembered as the only Boss we can express ourselves to with all the limitations and he would still calm us down with respect’.
Funeral arrangements would be announced later. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
