NHIS reviews tariffs for medicines and services – Check details
National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has notified all Ghanaians on their new review in prices of medicines. In a press release by the Corporate Affairs Directorate National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA said they have reviewed the NHIS Medicines List and Service Tariffs.
NHIA in the release said the adjustments were called for due to their observed increase in prices of most Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s). The review according to the release will be effective 1st February 2023.
CAPTURED AREAS IN THE REVIEW INCLUDES
1. Framework medicines have been increased by 50% plus an additional 30% marginal increase by the NHIA.
2. Non-Framework medicines have been reviewed upwards by 20%.
3. Service tariffs across board have been increased by 10%.
4. Artemether Injection 80mg/ml and Levofloxacin Infusion 500mg/ml have been added to the NHIA Medicines List and will now be reimbursed by the Scheme.
The Scheme entreats all service providers and the general public to take note of these adjustments and act accordingly.
