They said, the death of the Monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III
is a big loss to the boxing family in Nigeria and abroad.
The Federation recalled saying, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III was one of the Grand Patrons of the Nigeria Boxing Federation and Grand Patron of the Nigeria Referees and Judges.
Further, the tribute disclosed that Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III late 50s involvement in the development of Boxing in Nigeria prompted the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to honour with an Award titled -“Reigning 1st Monarch engaging in Boxing”
The Federation expressed their heart with deep words saying
“Kabiosi, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III will forever be fondly remembered for being a bridge builder all through his life. His unique lifestyle saw him through in ruling one of the thrones in the descendants of Oduduwa, the Oyo Empire.”
“Truly, his demise will create a vacuum in the Traditional institution of Oyo State.”
To the Federation and the whole Boxing family, they have indeed lost a quintessential ‘guru’, a Champion, Coach, and a Referee /Judge who goes jugging for 2 hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Sundays.
“We join the good people of Oyo and Nigeria at large to sympathize with the royal family and pray the Almighty God will give them the fortitude to bear irreparable lost as well as comfort then while they remain here.”
