The Delta State Police Command recently reported the apprehension of more than 100 individuals involved in a same-sex wedding event held at a hotel within the state.

In an official statement posted on their Facebook page, the state police disclosed their successful operation and indicated their intention to publicly present the apprehended individuals.

“The Delta State Command has taken into custody over a hundred individuals believed to be participants in a same-sex wedding ceremony hosted at a hotel. We are preparing to conduct a live online presentation of the detained individuals shortly,” the statement read.

This incident is consistent with the country’s stance on homosexuality, which has resulted in the enactment of an anti-gay law in 2014. Since its implementation, security agencies have taken action against those suspected of engaging in homosexual activities.

In a similar context, on December 31, 2021, law enforcement authorities cracked down on individuals involved in same-sex activities within a concealed brothel located in Isolo, Lagos.

Also, in 2022, a total of 19 young individuals were apprehended in Kano under allegations of attending a same-sex wedding event.
