The Vice President elect in the December 2020 general elections His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been sworn in as the substantive Vice President of the Republic of Ghana for another four-year period.

As the Constitution demands, he was sworn in by the Chief Justice of Ghana Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah on Thursday, 7th January, 2020, at the Parliament of Ghana.

The Chief Justice guided Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to read after him, his oath of alliagence and oath of office for assuming power as the Vice President for Ghana between January 7, 2021 and January 7, 2025.

The oaths sworn in by the Vice President of Ghana reads;

Let’s work closely together for the ultimate good of Mother Ghana – Alban Bagbin

“I, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, having been elected to the office of Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, do (in the name of Almighty God swear) that I will be faithful and true to the Republic of Ghana.”

“I will at all times preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana; and that I dedicate myself to the service and well-being of the people of the Republic of Ghana and to do right to all manner of persons.

President-elect Akufo-Addo sworn into office for his 2nd term

“I further (solemnly swear) that should I at any time break this oath of office shall submit myself to the laws of the Republic of Ghana and suffer the penalty for it. (so help me God)”
