The President elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has be sworn into office as the President of the Republic of Ghana for his second term.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was sworn in as President by the Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah on Thursday, 7th January, 2020, in Parliament of Ghana.

During the event, the Vice President of the Republic H.E Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia was also sworn into office as the Veep to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party was elected in the December 2020 general elections conducted by Electoral Commission of Ghana.

This is the second and final term of Nana Akufo-Addo as president of the Republic of Ghana. He has served his first term from 7th January, 2017 to 6th January, 2021. He will again serve from 2021 to January 6, 2025 for his last term in office as president.

In delivery his inaugural address, Nana Akufo-Addo said, it is a demonstration of the confidence and trust the Ghanaian people have reposed in him, not only in appreciation for the achievements chalked throughout his first four (4) years, but more significantly for the considerable amount of work that is to be done over the next four (4) years, in our drive to take our nation firmly onto the path of progress, prosperity and development, following the havoc wreaked by COVID-19.


“I invite all of you to join in the exciting business of developing our country. There are endless opportunities, if we remain united. What our forebears dreamed of, we will achieve! If we inherited dreams and visions from our founding fathers, we should leave legacies of achievements and realities to our children and their children. For, I believe in the limitless prospects of Ghana and of us, her people.” He said.

The ceremony which was chaired by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin saw in attendance prominent leaders such as former President John Agyekuym Kufuor, President of Cote D’Ivoire, Alhassane Ouattara, and several other world leaders.

President Akufo-Addo has therefore  thanked the Almighty God and the Ghanaian people, who, by an emphatic margin, renewed his mandate in office for four more years, in the elections of 7th December.
