The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency Andrew Asiamah Amoako has been appointed as the second (2nd) Deputy Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

Andrew Asiamah Amoako was expelled from the House in November last year for contesting in the December 2020 polls as an Independent candidate for Fomena Constituency seat.

Andrew Asiamah Amoako who was elected as the Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency as an independent Candidate in Parliament was elected as the 2nd Deputy Speaker after being nominated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Asawase Constituency Hon Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka and seconded by the Efutu Constituency NPP Member Alexander Afenyo Markin.

Andrew Asiamah Amoako who was nominated by the National Democratic Congress as their 2nd Deputy Speaker and unanimously approved by the House is the first independent Candidate of the 4th Republic of Ghana to have been appointed into such Office.

He shall also serve for four (4) years in Parliament as the 2nd Deputy Speaker.
