Speaking at the event, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa noted that, the programme is intended to support the Creative Arts Industry in Ghana and to also identify talented young once and polish them to be the next stars.
Mr. Ablakwa said, he has observed for sometimes now since he became the Member of Parliament that most of his initiatives and interventions that are carryed out are focused in areas that you will say are people who already have a certain path. They are either in school or they are professionals or elected people. In a brief breakdown, he reiterated that, he has established MP’s scholarship programme for students in tertiary institutions, intervention for the nurses and doctors. “We gave laptop computers to all nurses and doctors in North Tongu. We have given laptop to all circuit supervisors, teachers and specialized ICT teachers received personal laptops, and have distributed motorbikes to all circuit supervisors, including distribution of laptops to all Assembly Members and sponsorship for some performing teachers to study abroad.” He said.
“So we came up with this series. Today, we are paying attention to those of you who have talent in music and its auxiliary field. When we are done, we shall have another series for footballers, because I have realized that, we have a lot of talented footballers but because we have not really assisted them to be exposed to the bigger teams, so that will be the next series. After that, we shall come to boxers. There are quite a number of boxers in North Tongu especially in Mepe who are doing very well.” Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed.
Mr. Ablakwa who is popularly known by his constituents as “Togbe Worgbedze” while encourageing the people said, what we know about many talented people which is a situation globally and people talk about is that, often, the more talented people are, the more discipline they can be. There is a different between a talented people who made it all the way to the top. Such people are much disciplined, follow instructions, obedient and respectful. They don’t think they know it all, they follow guidelines. “Discipline is very important, don’t think that, you have the talent so you won’t follow guidelines, that will be your own doing and you will not be able to get to the level God wants you to get.” He advised.
He again disclosed that, there is going to be a database for all upcoming artistes in North Tongu for proper grooming to become who they want. “We are going to continue this mentorship programme until you become a star. We need to develop talents in North Tongu to help the MP develop the constituency.”
He indicated that, he is not happy when ever he is under so much pressure and everything becomes his responsibility. He therefore wish to have a star who can help develop the constituency together with him.
