Prempeh College emerges champions of 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz

The Prempeh College has emerged winners of the 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) contests held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Friday, 26th November, 2021.

They have defeated Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, and the Keta Senior High Technical School, Keta in a keenly contested finals.

Each of the finalists from the three (3) schools presented two (2) contestants each who showed their intellectual prowess to win the coveted trophy.

Prempeh College who has won the competition for four times has defeated the champions of the 2020 contests and the first timers of the 2021 contest, PRESEC and KETASCO respectively to win the NSMQ for the 5th times.

As determined as they were, the boys from Prempeh College were able to win this year’s contest.

The students and supporters immediately erupted with thunderous singing of the school’s anthem to the delight of all present.

The Prempeh College was the first to have won the National Science and Maths Quiz title in 1994 and subsequently went on to the third edition in 1996. They also won the contest in 2015, 2017, and 2021 respectively.

The final was attended by teachers and participants from the other schools, representatives from the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and Prime time Limited, organizers of the event as well as sponsors of the competition and political activists.

The Organizers, Prime Time Limited, spoke about the support received from GES, CHASS and other sponsors, they however outlined that one major challenge they still face was financial assistance.

AWARDS/REWARDS

The GOIL Riddle Bonanza rewards a school that answers 3 or 4 riddles correctly.
At the Final Stage, when a school answers 3 riddles correctly, they get a prize of GH₵3200 & 4 correct riddles; GH₵4000.
