The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has put together a team of experts to work on the Procurement of a Covid-19 Vaccine.

It could be recalled that Ghana recorded it’s first case of Covid-19 in March, 2020 which led to the shutdown of companies, bars, Cinemas, a partial lockdown of the country, and the closure of the boarders of the country.

Speaking during his 20th address to the Nation on measures taken to curb the spread of Covid-19, President John Dramani Mahama indicated that, Ghana is not going to be left behind in having access to the vaccines.

According to President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he has put together a team of experts from the relevant institutions and agencies who he has tasked to work towards the procurement and deployment of the vaccines in Ghana.

In his Speech, President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo said;

“Ghana, I assure you, is not going to be left behind in having access to the vaccines. I am aware of the anxieties relating to the safety and efficacy of newly-developed vaccines. Government will ensure that the COVID-19 vaccines to be deployed in the country are effective and are safe.

To this end, I have put together a team of experts, from the relevant institutions and agencies, who are working assiduously towards the procurement and deployment of the vaccines in Ghana.”

The President further added that, the Ministry of Information will be holding press briefings to keep the nation updated on the progress being made towards the procurement of a Covid-19 Vaccine.

President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo also to celebrate this year’s Christmas festivities with caution. The President Said;

Until then, and with barely a week to the
Christmas festivities, which bring in its
wake family reunions, parties and many
social and religious gatherings, I urge all
of us to err on the side of caution, and
observe the COVID-19 safety protocols
no matter where we find ourselves.
