The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to do all it takes to provide textbooks for schools before the resumption for term 3.
Speaking to Adom FM news, the GNAT President Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu disclosed that, the Association will not sit aloof to see term 3 of the 2022 academic year start without the Ministry of Education (MoE) supplying textbooks to schools.
It’s been 3 years after the introduction of the new curriculum at the basic level. However, the Ministry of Education has not been able to provide basic schools with textbooks to enhance smooth and effective teaching and learning.
Several stakeholders in education, specially the teacher unions among others have called on the Ministry of Education to provide schools with textbooks to aid teaching and learning.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu further added that, it is only individuals who do not understand education holds the view that textbooks are of no importance in education.
