The National Communications Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has responded to some frequently asked questions by a section of Ghanaians who desire to join the party.
The Party leadership has swiftly provided some relevant answers to questions being asked by Ghanaians and NDC party faithfuls for clarity.
According to the party, membership drive is opened to the general public from 15th June to 21st August, 2022 across the administrative branches of the party.
Below are some frequently asked questions and answers from the party.
Q1. Who can register as a member of the NDC?
Answer: Any Ghanaian, who is 18 years or above and is not a member of any other political party.
Q2. When and where can I register as a member of the NDC?
Answer: You can register to be an NDC member only at a branch meeting of the NDC in your catchment area from 15th June to 21st August, 2022. The branch is the structure of the NDC at every polling station of the country. If you do not know where and when your branch meets in your area, kindly visit the NDC office in your constituency for directions to your branch.

Q3. How much is registration/subscription fee for new party members?
Answer: Registration/subscription is free for all persons. However, all new registrant are required to apply for a new party ID card after registration by paying GH¢20, which is the cost of the production of the ID card.
Q4. What if a new registrant does not have GH¢20 to pay for a party ID card immediately after registration?
Answer: That is not a problem at all. Note that registration/subscription is free for all persons. All new registrants will have their details captured in the party’s register and be given a slip as proof of registration, with which they can temporarily participate in the activities of the party including voting. All such new registrants are required to apply and pay for their membership ID cards as soon as possible.

Q5. Who can contest in the upcoming NDC Branch elections?
Answer: Any member who had registered and had his or her name in the party’s register at his/her branch by the end of the year, 2018.
Q6. If I registered after 2018, can I contest in the upcoming branch elections?
Answer: No. If you registered after the year 2018, you cannot contest in the upcoming branch elections.
Q7. If I registered after 2018, can I vote in the upcoming branch elections?
Answer: Yes. If you registered after the year 2018, you can vote in the upcoming branch elections.
Q8. If I am a National executive or Regional executive or Constituency executive, can I contest for an executive position at the branch?
Answer: No. If you are a National executive or Regional executive or Constituency executive you cannot contest at the branch level, unless you resign your position as National, Regional or Constituency executive before you can contest at the branch.
Q9. If I was registered at a branch before the end of the year 2018, but I now live in a different branch/constituency, can I transfer my membership to the new branch?
Answer: Yes you can transfer your membership to where you now live.
Q10. If I transfer my membership from one branch/constituency to a new branch located in my current place of abode, can I vote or contest for an executive position at the new branch/constituency in the upcoming elections?
Answer: Yes can contest in the new branch or constituency if you transfer your membership to that branch or constituency.
NDC ELECTIONS TIMETABLEÂ
Earlier, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the timetable for their party internal elections ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
The internal elections timetable has been approved by the National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and publicly announced on Monday, 9th May, 2022.
TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING
According to the timetable, the party has scheduled five (5) different election activities which will commence on 15th June, 2022 and end in February 2023.
The National Executive Committee explained that, limited branch registration will also take place in May to June , 2022.
Below are the complete activities on the timetable with their dates attached to them.Â
NDC TIMETABLE FOR INTERNAL ELECTIONS
1. Branch executives will take place by June 15th, 2022.
2. Constituency elections scheduled for September 2022.
3. Regional executives will be elected in October 2022.
4. National Executives’ elections will be held in November 2022.
5. The Presidential slot was shifted to next year, 2023 February.
TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING
1. All newly created Branches shall have new Branch Executives
2. Only members of a branch who registered by 2018 can contest
3. All members with their names on the branch register can vote.
The party explained that, this is to ensure there are no miscommunication.
