Registration opens for 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE)

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially opened the portal for the September 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) II and urged all prospective teachers (Degree Batch) to register within the stipulated time frame.
NTC GTLE II GENERAL COST
The general cost for the process is GH¢500.00. However, the said cost will be paid in two (2) folds.
GH¢50.00 for NTC Indexing and GH¢450.00 for Voucher (Serial number and PIN).
Candidates are advised to make all payments because, during the registration process, they have to enter Serial number, PIN, and NTC Indexing Number.
GTLE II REGISTRATION: NTC INDEXING
As announced, the Council said all prospective teachers who will sit for the September 2023 GTLE II must ensure that they are indexed in the NTC Indexing portal and make the quoted payment.
HOW TO MAKE PAYMENT FOR NTC INDEXING
Payment for the NTC Indexing as announced officially will be made in two (2) distinct ways.
- Payment at any Prudential Bank Limited branch.
- Payment via the short code *772*51# using Mobile Money (MoMo).
The indexing fee is Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH₵50.00). After payment, the NTC Indexing Number will be sent via sms for verification and registration purposes at the indexing portal.
COST OF REGISTRATION: NTC GTLE II SEPTEMBER CANDIDATES (Voucher)
Candidates are required to pay an examination fee of GH₵450.00 (voucher cost).The said cost of registration will cover three (3) papers.

After payment, candidates will be given their PIN and Serial Number from the bank. Next, kindly proceed to https://indexing.ntc.gov.gh and verify your details.
NTC GTLE II, SEPTEMBER 2023 MODEL
This year, NTC is introducing the Subject-Based Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (SBGTLE) as a response to the need for testing both content knowledge and professional expertise of prospective teachers.
The examination aims to ensure that qualified teachers possess the necessary knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes required to deliver effectively in schools, aligning with the National Teachers Standards.
NTC GTLE II PAPERS TO BE WRITTEN
The scheduled papers are three (3) in number. They are:
- General Professional Knowledge paper, which includes numeracy, literacy, and essential professional skills.
- Grade-level Specialism Pedagogy paper. It varies based on the level of specialization (Early Grade/Early Childhood, Primary and JHS, SHS/SHTS, and Technical Vocational Schools).
- Multiple Subjects Content or Single Subject Content Knowledge paper.
a) Multiple Subjects Content: In this paper, prospective teachers who are trained for Early Grade/Early Childhood or Primary levels will write Multiple Subjects Content Paper for their respective levels since they will teach all subjects in their respective classes.
b) Single Subject Specialism: Here, prospective teachers who are trained for junior high, senior high or TVET will write one paper in their areas of specialisation.
DEADLINE FOR SEPTEMBER 2023 NTC GTLE II REGISTRATION
The deadline as stated in the official release by NTC for the registration is July 31, 2023. The urged all prospective teachers to register within the stated registration period.

DATE TO WRITE SEPTEMBER 2023 NTC GTLE II
The September 2023 GTLE II is scheduled to take place from September 13th to 15th, 2023. Candidates are advised to adhere to all guidelines and instructions provided by the NTC.
WHO IS NOT PART OF THE SEPTEMBER 2023 NTC GTLE II?
The ongoing registration is specifically for fresh candidates, while re-sit candidates for the traditional GTLE will have their last chance to write the examination in November 2023. Afterward, there will be no examination for the traditional subjects from 2024.
These groups of people are not part of September 2023 NTC GTLE II -Degree holders with referrals in the traditional GTLE wishing to retake the examination must start afresh with the SBGTLE from 2024. Diplomates with referrals in the traditional GTLE wishing to write the SBGTLE must first obtain a degree.
