“Rejected Achimota student” Tyrone Marhguy blows 8As in WASSCE

Tyrone Marhguy Iras, one of the students initially rejected by the Achimota School because they had dreadlocks blows As in chain in the 2023 WASSCE. He had A1 in all the subjects he wrote.

It would be recalled that 3 years ago, this Rastafari was nearly denied his right to education because of his hairstyle.

The case ignited many arguments between Tyrone Marhguy’s family and Achimota School.

He later got admission to study. After a successful stay in school for studies, he ended up scoring 8As in the WASSCE.

In May 2021, some people including the Board of Governors for Achimota School were of the view that Marhguy should cut off his “cultural hair” before admission.

“Years down the line, we want to know how their so-called deserved wards fared in their WASSCE, so we know who was more deserving to be in Achimota School,” netizens called for.

“Achimota School, Board of Governors, and Alumni must all bow in shame, for the needless negative impressions thrown out earlier and be thankful that such a Gem came through the school,” netizens added.
