Reopening date for Colleges of Education released

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has rescheduled the reopening date for Colleges of Education in Ghana.
Coverghana.com.gh can report that, the resumption date for the Forty-six (46) Accredited Public Colleges of Education has been postponed to January 2022.
According to the information available, the reopening date which supposed to be 7th November, 2021 has been rescheduled for January 2022.

In a letter to the President of the Principals Conference (PRINCOF) of Colleges of Education, the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission Prof. Mohammed Salifu said, further to a letter dated October 8, 2021 communicating approval for the proposed calendar of the Public Colleges of Education for the 2021/2022 academic year, the following have been reached.
1. That the reopening date for continuing students be rescheduled to early January 2022.
2. That the reopening date for First Year students remains January 8th, 2022 as earlier agreed.

The Commission added that, the rescheduling is to enable the calendar of the Colleges to align more closely with that of the five public Universities working with the Colleges on the delivery of the B.Ed programme.

Principals Conference (PRINCOF) of Colleges of Education is directed to kindly take note of the changes and arrange to submit a revised calendar based on the plan of alternating the presence of different cohorts of students on campus for in-person teaching and learning.
