The former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba has refuted fake publication by some news portals in her name to have condemned the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popular known as Chairman Wontumi on his open attack on the National Democratic Congress’s running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
The former Gender Minister has unequivocally said, her outfit did not make such purported media publications circulating in the media about Chairman Wontumi and the NPP as a party.
In a press statement issued to the news portals in question, the Executive Director Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation Dr. Otiko Afisah Djaba said, her attention has been drawn to a ridiculous, malicious and barbaric publication with the caption “Otiko fires at Wonrumi as ‘bushman’ for his anti women comment”
“My attention has been drawn to your publication captioned “Otiko fires at Wontumi as ‘bushman’ for his anti women comment”. Let me place on record that I have not published, spoken or issued any such statement about Mr Wontumi or the NPP as attributed to me.” He said.
Dr. Otiko is therefore calling on all news portals that carried out the false publication in her name to immediately retract the said publication and must apologize to her for the deformation and embarrassment the news caused her.
“I demand immediate retraction of the publication; and an unqualified apology to me for the embarrassment caused me by this false publication.”
“Is this mischief and lie necessary? Since 2018 I have not been on Asempa, so why this falsehood? Why has this unscrupulous lie become necessary? What are these liars hoping to gain? Hmmm! Politricks In Ghana!! Otiko abre wai!!!” She fumes.
In press statement copied to the National Media Commission, Dr Otiko Afisah Djaba noted, she will in the meantime refer the issue to her lawyers for an adequate counsel for the next line of action. “I am in the meantime referring the matter to my lawyers for advice.” She concluded.
