Following the news of Parliament approving salaries for the first and second ladies of the republic of Ghana, some Ghanaians have been speaking on the issue.
According to the information, the first lady and the second of the country will be paid 21,000 per month and will be back dated from 2017.
According to some Ghanaians, the First and second ladies must not be paid because they do any work which merits a salary.
Some further added that, if the wives of the President and his vice President are to be paid, then other civil and public servants must also be paid.
See the comments from some Ghanaians below on Social media;
“We’re gonna pay Becky and Samira with our taxes because Nana Addo and Bawumia. After all the money Nana Addo and Bawumia have made, they cannot take care of their wives. I guess the wives of teachers, soldiers, police officers etc must also be paid.”
The First Lady and second lady will now receive GhC 21k every month and it will be back paid from 2017? 😳

At least the duties of the President and ministers and all other appointees are designated in law. What’s the duties of the First Lady for which she should be paid? In which law are her duties stated?
