Sankara’s death: Former President Blaise Compaoré sentenced to life imprisonment

Blaise Compaoré has been declared by court for life imprisonment for having a filthy hand in the death of his ally Thomas Sankara

The Charismatic leader of Burkina Faso, 35 years, Thomas Sankara was assassinated by a group of gun men during a meeting held towards addressing the difficulties Burkina Faso is facing as a country those days.

Sankara’s untimely death smiled at him on 15th October 1987 in Ouagadougou during a meeting at the Headquarters.

Souls perished in that bloody incidence but only two survived the bullets festival. The close friend of Thomas Sankara, Blaise Campaoré survived the coup d’etat.

Through examinations, the ballistic experts said, “He was shot in the chest at least seven times, according to ballistics experts who testified during the trial.”

He, Blaise later denied claims about having an idea about the incidence due to how it happened that very 15th October.

Since the death of Sankara, the assassinated case has been in court for justice to prevail.

The court made it known in their verdict that, “Our goal was for the political violence we have in Burkina Faso to come to end. This verdict will give many people cause for thought.”

They shared the punishments accordingly, hence, giving eight (8) of the defendants between 3 -20 years for sentence and acquitted the other 3 defendants.
