SDA SHS Students refuse to write WASSCE Examinations on Saturday

Information available to coverghana.com indicates that some Senior High School students boycotted some of their examination Papers which was written on Saturday 8th August, 2020.

According to the information, three students of an undisclosed Senior High School in the country decided not to write the Asante Twi examination Paper which was written on a Saturday because  of their religious beliefs.

According to the students, they fellowship with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and according to their Church believes and doctrines, the Sabbath day is a holy day and must be kept as such and therefore they cannot write their examination on a Saturday.

The students argued that it is written in the Bible at Exodus 20:8-11 that;

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

The students also stated categorically that they will boycott any other examination that have scheduled to be written on a Saturday, be it a core or an elective subject.
