Shaquil Akeem “Shaq” Barrett is an American football outside linebacker for the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha before transferring to Colorado State University, and the Denver Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Barrett began his college football career in 2010 at Nebraska-Omaha. After the school’s football program was discontinued following the 2010 season, he transferred to Colorado State.

Barrett was able to play right away after transferring from a school that had discontinued its program, rather than having to sit out a year. Barrett played three seasons at Colorado State University (2011-13).

Shaq Barrett joined the 2014 NFL Draft after his college career but went undrafted. He then signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos. Despite his lack of selection status, he immediately established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the field, and his efforts were rewarded when he helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
